L – Life Abundant

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want” (Psalm 23:1).
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10).
Scripture Focus: Psalm 23

Psalm 23 summarizes some of the abundant life the Shepherd of our souls provides for us, the sheep of His pasture. Because He is your Shepherd, you will not need or lack:
Rest —for He makes you lie down in green pastures.
Guidance —for He leads you beside the still waters.
Renewal —for He restores your soul.
Direction —for He leads you in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Peace —for though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death you will fear no evil.
Companionship —for He is with you.
Comfort —for His rod and His staff comfort you.
Refreshment —for He prepares a table before you in the presence of your enemies.
Joy —for He anoints your head with oil.
Abundance—for your cup runs over.
Blessing —for surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life.
Eternal life —for you will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Insight: How can you respond to such complete, loving care for your every need? The songwriter said it well, “Savior, like a Shepherd lead us, Much we need Thy tender care.”
