Hide and Seek
"'Do not consider his appearance or his height...The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart'" (1 Samuel 16:7).
Scripture Focus: Psalm 139:1-18
"Can He see me now?" our four-year-old daughter asked from beneath her bed. We had been teaching them that God sees us wherever we are, hears every word, and knows every motive of our hearts.
This is an important truth for all of us to remember. For we cannot just feel accountable to other people; we must know we are accountable to God Himself. One day we will stand before Him, and everything will become public knowledge.
He saw your unformed body. He fashioned you within your mother's womb, and He loved you even then. He knew you as His beloved one made in His image-not as a dispensable fetus.
David said, "Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?" Of course, there is no place to hide from the omnipresent God. "You hem me in-behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me" (Psalm 139:5).
God is the loving Seeker who sees all, hears all, and knows all. He is Light and can penetrate any physical, emotional, or spiritual darkness.
Insight: God's signal is never out of range. Our Father continually provides access, so we can talk to Him about any thing at any time.
