Jesus And Salvation Is Powerful

As I write this a missionary friend 8,000 miles away uses Twitter to ask for prayers. He and his team were preaching in a town in Asia. When one of them spoke this verse, the crowd erupted in protest and began hurling rocks and pieces of 2x4 lumber at them. The truth of Jesus and salvation is powerful, isn't it? 

Closer to home, I have noticed over the past few years a blue bumper sticker has gotten quite popular. Spelled out in a mix of white letters and symbols from the world's foremost religions, it simply says "Coexist." Maybe you've seen it. 

As followers of the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), we are to live in peace as much as it depends on us (Romans 12:18). However, to simply "coexist" with other religions would be the most hateful thing we could do. Billions of people still don't know Jesus. They live in falsehood and darkness. By God's grace we now live in light, love, and truth. Then wouldn't the most loving thing we can do in this world be to tell people about eternal life in Jesus alone?

Insight: Lord, please strengthen missionaries around the world and encourage our persecuted brothers and sisters living in countries opposed to the Gospel. amen.
