To Be His Hands And Feet

Scripture Focus: Romans 12:9-13 Mark 10:42-45

In my dictionary which defines hospitality as "the cordial and generous reception of or disposition toward guests." Just above it is the word hospital, "an institution that provides treatment for the sick or injured." Despite their similar spellings, the two words are rarely connected in our thinking. But, oh, how truly intertwined they are! 

Our world is teeming with exhausted, broken, lonely souls starving for fellowship, relationship and healing. Jesus understood the importance of hospitality. Throughout His ministry, He reached out to say, "Come, rest; let me ease your burden, give you peace and feed you...I am the Bread of Life." His treatment of those who came to Him in need was always welcoming, generous and humble...and it was healing! 

The hospitality Jesus modeled begins with allowing Him to heal and be at home in our own hearts. Then His grace flows out of us in many ways. God's Word is our guide, the Holy Spirit our teacher. Opportunities to be His hands and feet in a heartsick world are endless.

Insight: God ordained hospitality so that those we usher into our hearts and homes will be loved right into His kingdom!
