Our Choice
“If serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve....But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 2415)
Scripture Focus: Deuteronomy 30:15-20
My friend died this year. Many tears were shed at his death, but they were partly tears of joy. Rick has gone home. He will be remembered for his funny stories about everyday things. He brought us much laughter, but he was serious about his love for his Savior.
Jesus has gone to Heaven to prepare a place for God’s children. One day He will come again to take us home. He doesn’t want to leave anyone behind; His desire is that we would all come home. God loved the world and sent His Son to make the way for all to become His children.
Though the invitation to Heaven is open to everyone, some will not accept. God asks that we receive His Son Jesus as Savior, trusting Him to forgive our sins. Some people say a truly loving God would never exclude anyone from eternity with Him. They don’t understand that it’s people who make that choice. God reaches out to us. It is our choice to accept or reject His Son. It is the most important choice anyone could ever make.
Insight: God never forces anyone into Heaven. He simply reveals the way to get there, then issues an invitation. Why would anyone refuse?
