Hiding Place

"As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him...Who is the Rock except our God?" (2 Samuel 22:31-32)
Scripture Focus: 2 Samuel 22

In her book, The Hiding Place, Corrie Ten Boom recounts the inspiring story of her family's quest to offer a place of refuge for those oppressed by the Nazis. This passion eventually led to their imprisonment. But their faith in the Lord and dependence upon His grace grew ever stronger.

While sitting in a prison cell, Corrie's father led a time of prayer and sharing God's Word, as he had done regularly at home. Although he was not allowed to have a Bible in the concentration camp, much of God's Word was hidden in his heart. Facing a cell of despairing souls, He quoted from Psalm 119:114, "You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in Your Word."

The Ten Boom family trusted God to protect and defend them, much like David did when he was pursued by his enemies. They sought comfort and hope not in their surroundings, but in the flawless Word of the Lord. They sheltered under the Rock of God's promises and looked to Him as their Hiding Place. He is a shield to those who hope in His Word!
