Encourage Young People
"Encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned." (TITUS 2:6-8A)
Scripture Focus: 1 Timothy 4
"Oh, to be young again," many of us say, admiring youthfulness around us. Have you wished you could help a younger person avoid mistakes you've made in your lifetime? Paul took note of young Timothy whose sincere faith, instilled by his grandmother Lois and mother Eunice, was evident. How good to see the zeal of young believers!
While Paul himself lay in a Roman prison, he recalled how he fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Facing execution, he mentored young Timothy. Paul wrote two letters to Timothy, telling him what to expect in a leadership position, urging him to preach the Word and beware of potential opposition even from those in the church.
No matter what your age, there are people in your life younger than you. Perhaps God is speaking to you about mentoring - a son or daughter, a grandchild, a nephew or niece, a friend. You could give advice or help where it is sought; you could pray and encourage at all times. Let the love of Jesus be reflected in you.
Insight: Sacrifice your time and abilities to give a young person a hand and some heartfelt support in his work and walk with the lord.
