Walk with God
"Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away." (GENESIS 5:24)
"For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God." (Hebrews 11:5b)
Scripture Focus: Hebrews 11:5-6
My doctors tell us walking keeps us in good physical shape, and I agree. As vital as physical conditioning is, our walk with God is more important. Paul said, "Physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come" (1 Timothy 4:8).
Just like two close friends walk, Enoch kept in step with God, not lagging behind or running ahead. His life was pleasing and honoring to God. Like Enoch, we walk with God by faith. The brief reference to Enoch in Genesis seems to indicate that Enoch didn't experience death. Are you wondering if by "walking with God" you might escape death, too? Have you have put your trust in the saving grace of Jesus through His death for you on the cross? Then you have escaped death! Jesus did not escape it, of course; He took it on and conquered it. And He came back from the dead, granting us the comfort of His Holy Spirit so that each day of our lives might be a welcomed walk with Him.
Insight: The best exercise we can have is walking with god. believe that God exists and that he rewards those who seek him. (see Hebrews 11:6).
