Hole or Whole?
"Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'" (Matthew 22:37)
Scripture Focus: Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Every human being is born with a hole in his or her heart. No, it's not a congenital medical condition; it's a birth defect of the spirit. Seventeenth-century French philosopher Blaise Pascal put it like this: "There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every person, and it can never be filled by any created thing. It can only be filled by God, made known in Jesus Christ."
Have you experienced the emptiness of living without God, the weight of trying to fill that hole with something other than the Christ of Calvary? There are many Christians who have never nailed their "other than’s” to that cross. We go through life wondering why we aren't experiencing the fullness and joy of salvation, but continue filling ourselves with the world's goods and ideas. We accept the lies of the prince of darkness, and remain unsatisfied with who we are and what we have in Christ.
Jesus is the great Physician. He desires to heal all our spiritual illnesses by filling us with Himself. Let Him heal your heart now.
Insight: Jesus Thou Joy Of Loving Hearts / From The Blest Bliss That Earth Imparts / We Turn Unfilled To Thee Again. (Bernard Of Clairvaux, 12Th Century)
