A – Acceptance in the Beloved

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3)
Scripture Focus: Romans 8:31-39

For the typical teenage girl it is a fate which seems worse than death, being sent to school without the “right” clothes. If the jeans don’t have the “right” label, forget trying to make her wear them.

She thinks that having the “in” clothes is her ticket to acceptance by her peers. But school status based on appearance is subject to designer or advertiser change. And since her peer leaders have decided to make her the current scapegoat, it seems the harder she tries to be accepted, the more she is rejected.

Everyone wants to be “in” someplace. We need some person or group to receive us favorably. We may be accepted by society for awhile, but God is willing to accept us forever. God’s acceptance is based neither on appearance nor performance. We’re accepted as we are because of who Christ is.

God’s condition for acceptance is internal, our being in Christ. His blood, which covers us from all sin, becomes our “right” clothes. God bought the garments for us. Our part is to accept them as a gift.

Insight: When God decided to love you He already knew everything about you—past, present, and future. Nothing can separate you from His love.
