Songs of Deliverance
“You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. . . . Rejoice in the Lord and be glad . . . sing, all you who are upright in heart.” (Psalm 32:7, 11)
Scripture Focus: Psalm 32
David had complete confidence in God’s protection. No matter what happened to him, no matter what kind of difficulty he was in, he trusted God to get him through it or take him out of it. Then David wasn’t shy about publicly acknowledging God’s help. He joyfully celebrated God’s acts of deliverance.
As David publicly praised God for His help, he was surrounded by others doing the same thing—singing songs of deliverance. It reminds me of praise services I’ve been in. When given the opportunity to tell about God’s work in their lives, people tend to sit shyly, waiting for someone else to go first. But after one or two people had the courage to stand up and share, others popped up, eager to “sing” their songs of deliverance. God invites us to “call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me” (Psalm 50:15).
In small ways and big ways God has done amazing things for us, perhaps in ways we have not yet recognized. Honor Him by telling about them.
Insight: It seems some of us feel free to show our strong emotions about everything—but God. Still He deserves it the most. Sing your song of deliverance today.
