God and Weeds
"Though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed" (Psalm 92:7).
Scripture Focus: Psalm 37
The War of the Weeds is very familiar to those who have a garden. Weeds multiply two or three times as fast as most plants and grasses, mature more quickly and develop new seeds within days. Whether they drop in clusters, are airborne, or send out rhizomes, the assault is relentless and deadly. How quickly, thickly and intricately they entangle themselves amongst the roots of the desired plants and grasses. Endless battle is something we must all learn to live with; constant vigilance is in order if any control is to be maintained.
So it is with evil and evildoers. The attack of the devil and his minions is also relentless. The seeds of evil quickly, easily take root and entangle us. The wicked do sprout like weeds. We see evil assault our children and families, our co-workers, our nation, the world. For those who don't have the boon of a new life in Christ, the result is deadly. But praise God! There will be a day when the war is over: evil and its perpetrators will be no more. Evil's destruction is a promise!
Insight: Pray for those you know who are caught in a tangle of wickedness and evil.
Commit to prayer for their deliverance and ultimate freedom.
