I Have Decided ...
"Yes, Lord...I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world." (John 11:27)
Scripture Focus: John 3:1-16; 19:38-42
Sometimes we come to a point when we can no longer straddle the fence and we must take a stand. Nicodemus, a Jewish religious ruler, came to Jesus in spiritual darkness and under the cover of darkness at a similar point. Jesus explained the need for spiritual rebirth through believing in Him. What Nicodemus did with this revelation is unrecorded.
Immediately following Jesus' death, His 12 disciples hiding, two men had the boldness and political acumen to claim Jesus' body, the money to prepare it for burial, and a place to lay it to rest. But only a believer would lovingly wrap Jesus' battered and bloody body in clean linens with an extravagance of costly ointments, laying Him in his own burial tomb, right? And only a believer would risk discovery and condemnation over involvement in the burial of this radical rabble rouser who had just been hung, right? But this was a time to stand up and say, "I believe." And that was what Nicodemus and his fellow ruler, Joseph, did.
What will you do with Jesus?
Insight: "I have decided to follow Jesus.../No turning back, no turning back."(S. Sundar Singh, 1963)
