Topic: +DEV+ Whoever Believes
"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." (John 3:36)
Scripture Focus: John 3
Do you have a biblical name? Maybe your name is John, David, Rachel, Mary, or some other name many of us know from Scripture. My name, Michael, is old enough to be in the Bible. Today's passage shows us that all of us are mentioned in the Bible, whether we can see our names there or not.
In John 3 both Jesus and John the Baptist preach the same message: The believing whoever gains all the blessings of eternal life. The unbelieving whoever will "perish" (vs. 16), "stands condemned already" (vs. 18), and finds that "God's wrath remains" on him (vs. 36).
The Father gave His Son, who made our salvation possible. In Jesus, true and everlasting life is available. You and I are in the relative pronoun, "Whoever." Either we reject the offer of forgiveness and life, or we believe and immediately begin to enjoy peace with God and eternal life. We can rejoice as God's chosen ones for whom He says, "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine" (Isaiah 43:1).
