Christ, Our Holiness

"It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God - that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption." (1 CORINTHIANS 1:30)
Scripture Focus: 1 Corinthians 1:26-31

We go to the historic places where our forefathers walked and lived, and we feel something almost holy there. Some of us have visited the Holy Lands and touched places where the Apostle Paul or even Jesus Christ were. There is a strong sense of being on "holy ground." But what is holiness for you and me?

Something holy is set apart. Think of when you visit the dentist. You notice several specialized tools ready for use. Some of them have only one purpose; that is, they are set apart to do what no other tool will do. That "set apart" tool could be called "holy."

Here is the wonderful mystery: Christ has been made holiness for us! Jesus was set apart for me so that I could be set apart for Him. In Christ, we take on His holiness. I am so glad that my own attempts to be holy are not what my life now and in eternity depends on.

Many religions require holiness through rigid systems of rules and regulations. Unattainable holiness is freely given to believers in Christ.
