Breaking Down Walls

“By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the people had marched around them for seven days. By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed.” (Hebrews 11:30-31)
Scripture Focus: Joshua 6:6-20

God’s people stared at the stone walls as they marched around Jericho. Joshua told them they must go around the city once every day for six days while the priests blew their trumpets. On the seventh day they were to march around seven times. Then the priests would blow their trumpets and all the people should shout. Joshua assured them that the walls would tumble down.

Disbelief surely filled their minds. Could those thick walls fall with just a shout? They remembered God’s guidance through the wilderness. Their parents had seen the Red Sea part; they had tasted the manna in the wilderness. Again and again God had proved He could be trusted.

Is God still able to demolish barriers? To rescue people who are slaves to sin? I have felt His miraculous touch on my heart. He continues to use less than perfect people to do amazing miracles. Should I doubt that He can do anything? After all, He has broken down walls in my life, and continues to do so.

Insight: God’s strong hand is on His children. He continually breaks down and builds up areas in our lives to conform us to His design for us.
