Provision
“Command those who are rich...not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything.” (1 Timothy 6:17)
Scripture Focus: Matthew 6:25-34
Grabbing her Bible, Lena hurried her children out the door for church. She laid her Bible on the trunk as she helped her sons into the car, then shut the door, and scrambled into the driver’s seat. Thirteen miles later, she pulled into the church parking lot and raced around the car to let the children out. Then she saw it. Her Bible was still on the trunk. It hadn’t moved.
Wonder filled her heart. Only God had kept the Bible there. He knew her circumstances. It was the only Bible she had, and there was no money on hand to replace it. Lena was grateful for God’s provision in this unusual way.
Do we sometimes forget that it is only by God’s provision and care that we get along in this life? We grumble and complain, but even when we forget to be grateful, God continues to provide. He still loves us even though we neglect to thank Him for His kindness. He is willing and able to provide whatever we need when He knows we need it. He is faithful, even when we’re not.
Insight: Learn to be grateful for everyday miracles and you’ll find reasons to thank God for His faithful provision in your life.
