See, the Lion

"Then one of the elders said to me, 'Do not weep! See, the Lion... He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.'" (Revelation 5:5)
Scripture Focus: Luke 9:28-36

My mind goes back to the mountain top where John communed with Moses, Elijah and his dear friend, Jesus. They spoke of how Jesus must die to set people free. Moses knew obedience to the Law could never do that. Elijah, with all his miracle-working power, could not do it. They had no power, whatsoever, to break the seals of sin that bind mankind.

In our time, many believe that they can please God by doing good. Others look for some spiritual experience that will give them power to succeed. If the law of Moses or miraculous deeds could set people free, why would Jesus have had to die at all? How could we ever think we could do enough to earn God's mercy?

Neither Moses nor Elijah nor anyone in heaven nor in the earth or under the earth was able to break the seals of that book. When Moses and Elijah had gone, Jesus remained. Jesus alone is able to cut through that which binds us. Do not weep with John, for Jesus is worthy. See, the Lion. Dry your tears and look! Praise Him now and forever.
