A New Creation
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is
a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come." (2 CORINTHIANS 5:17)
Scripture Focus: 2 Corinthians 5: 16-21
Ken was a poster boy for what drugs can do to a person. He was nearly catatonic when some boys from the church dorm found him wandering around Houston's Allen's Landing - the home of several psychedelic night clubs in the late 60's. Ken became their object of prayer around the clock for several days until he finally gained consciousness. Somehow the Spirit of God penetrated the fog of drugs, and Ken received Christ.
The life Ken left behind - wandering though hill country on all fours thinking he was a lion, eating rodents, planning an escape to India for easier drugs - compared to the life he gained in Christ, is the kind of radical change we all have when we know Jesus. No matter how detestable our sin - and really no matter how trivial our sin - we are a new creation altogether in Christ Jesus.
The last time I saw Ken, he had married a woman with a sordid past whom he had led to Christ. They now spend their lives sharing how Christ totally redeemed their lives, glorifying God and enjoying Him.
