The Peace of God
"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (PHILIPPIANS 4:7)
Scripture Focus: Philippians 4:4-9
The economy is in recession and headed for another depression. Unemployment is high. There is significant stress on individuals and families. Many folks worry about where the money will come from to pay mortgages and put food on the table. When the bank forecloses on their homes or they lose their jobs, can we be at peace? It would have to be a peace that transcends understanding. Exactly!
Perspective makes the difference. The imprisoned Paul wrote, "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:4-6).
The Lord is near, even in our times of desperation and suffering. So rejoice, however you can manage to do so. Tell Him about your worries, praise and thank Him for what He will do or has done for you in Christ. Stay near to Him; He will not forsake you.
How this works transcends understanding. It is the peace of God in Christ.
Insight: Do You Think God Must Not Understand? Remember "We Do Not Have A High Priest Who Is Unable To Sympathize With Our Weaknesses" (Hebrews 4:15)
