What is Your Mission?
"I have been crucified with Christ and I
no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God." (GALATIANS 2:20)
Scripture Focus: Acts 9:1-31
Saul was zealous (to say the least!) about religion. He knew the Scriptures inside out, but he didn't know Jesus, the Lord of the Bible, at all. Schooled under Gamaliel, his study of Jewish law made him a good Pharisee. But God was taking hold of Saul's heart on his way to Damascus when a light from heaven flashed and a voice asked, "Saul, why do you persecute me?" He knew who had spoken. "Who are you, Lord?"
That personal encounter with Christ brought about Saul's conversion, changing his name to Paul and changing his life as a believer in the Messiah. His ambitions took a new direction; his mission became spreading the gospel to the Gentiles instead of becoming a better Pharisee.
Paul didn't just add Christianity to the religious teachings he'd already learned from his youth. Rather, he exchanged his former life for new life in Christ. His eyes were opened to seeing how Jesus fulfilled every prophecy of the law he had studied. And now, wondrously, He would fill Paul's life as well.
Insight: Let's Say With Paul That We Can Do Everything Through Christ Who Gives Us Strength (Philippians 4:13) To Accomplish God's Purpose In Us.
