Trusting God

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see....And without faith it is impossible to please God...he rewards those who earnestly seek him." (Hebrews 11:1, 6)
Scripture Focus: Joshua 2:1-18; 6:25

Rahab must have been scared when she hid and then helped the Israelite spies escape Jericho. If she had been caught, she would have been punished for being a traitor.

Later, when she hung a scarlet cord from her window, did she wonder if her rescuers would really come? Did she wait patiently or pace the floor? She had heard of the God leading the Israelites. Though she didn't know Him, she believed He protected and cared for His people. She felt she could trust Him to do the same for her.

To wait patiently on God is difficult. Sometimes it's easier to rely on ourselves. We want to trust Him, but we feel like the man who asked for his son to be healed. He said to Jesus, "I do believe. Help me overcome my unbelief" (Mark 9:24).

If you believe in your heart but your head says it's impossible, you need to listen to your heart, not your head. Jesus has proved Himself to be trustworthy over and over again. You have no reason to doubt Him and every reason to trust Him.

Insight: Instead of trying to figure things out before trusting God, talk to Him and leave your doubts in His hands. He will not fail you.
